Career Plan (PPRD)

Towards the end of the first year I realised what I wanted to do in actuality wasn’t really what I wanted to do, I learnt after having my placement at Parlour Creative that graphic retouching really wasn’t for me. As I have progressed throughout the second I have struggled to find what I am really good at. I have enjoyed different subjects within the year but haven’t really considered what is best for me.

I have however recently considered trying in the future to get a PHD in interactive media because I really like the concepts and issues that are brought up within this subject and I feel at present that staying in education is a better option for me because I am enjoying the course and I feel I have a lot more to learn. At present a current career plan would very simply be to take up the third year and at the same time try and get written work out so I have the ability to show that I can get my writing seen. At present I am a News Contributor for a game website called Beefjack, so in some respects I am already on my way.

After the third year if I am unable to get onto a PHD course straight away I plan to try and do a Masters within interactive Media. If I succeed in doing that I then plan to go on to a PHD then. Other than that I have considered becoming a games tester but not to the same extent, I feel I could easily become a games tester but I really want to go on to do a PHD.

Overall I am still very unsure of what I really want to do in the future, I am still struggling to know what I am good at. I enjoy many things but am still unsure what I truly excel at. What I am aware of however is that I want to stay in education a while longer so I can try to understand what path or paths I should head down in the future.
